Fun Day of Music

Marathon logo.jpg

The Timmins Symphony Orchestra and Geoffrey James Lee School of Music invites everyone to take part in a great day of free entertainment at our 2017 We Love Music Marathon on Saturday, June 10th 2017 between 10am and 6pm. Spend all or part of the day enjoying the musical talent of our community. Browse through our book sale, enjoy a few pastries and visit an art exhibit all while helping us celebrate another wonderful year at the TSO.

Students from the Geoffrey James Lee School of Music, members of our orchestra and chorus have been hard at work preparing for what should be a great day of music. The ongoing concert, a fundraising event for the TSO and its music school, will begin at 10am and run until 6pm.

Haven't had the opportunity to give a pledge to one of our performers? Our TSO principals will give you that opportunity! Pledge one of our musicians to have them play during the concert. Your support of the Timmins Symphony Orchestra and Music School is greatly appreciated. Your financial support ensures that symphonic music remains an integral part of our culture through our various concert series and music education initiatives.

Please join us at Convenant United Church (corner of Eighth Ave. and Pine St.) on the 10th of June for a fun day of music and the arts.

Book Donations: Havebooks, CDs, DVDs, music books to donate to our fundraiser? Please call the TSO office at 705-267-1006 for pick up.

The Timmins Symphony Orchestra is looking for new musicians to join our music family.  If you currently play or have previous experience playing an instrument of the orchestra, we want to talk to you.

The Timmins Symphony Orchestra is largely a community based orchestra with professional guidance.  With the help of our music director and concert master, our group fo 40 - 45 musicians meet every Monday evenings from 7 to 9:30pm to work on repertoire to be performed during the main concert series season concerts.  Through the support of our professional and semi-professional musicians, community players gain valuable experience and knowledge of the orchestral repertoire that is the core of the our art.

The Timmins Symphony Chorus also welcomes new signers.  Under the guidance of our musical director and choral conductor, singers of various backgrounds meet every Tuesday evening from 7 to 9:30pm to work on repertoire slated for performance with the orchestra or during other music events throughout the year.  Although musical knowledge (reading musical notation) is a valuable asset, we encourage everyone to join.
